Abstract: This paper showed a short-wall mining technique which could mining 5.2m coal-seam by mining inside and caving outside.Structure and functions of electric traction coal cutter matched with this technique were introduced.Compared with traditional large mining height technique and equipment，the new-style coal cutter and technique had advantage of low energy cost，high block ratio and high efficiency.It is aimed at solving difficult full-mechanized mining problem in mining thick coal-seam，coal-pillar and boundary coal for medium and small mines and providing technical and equipment supporting for coal industry sustainable development of China.
